BDR Massacre

Documentation of the tragic BDR massacre and its aftermath

In 2009, one and a half months after the Awami League came to power, a 36-hour massacre was carried out at Pilkhana in Dhaka on February 25th. In this, 57 army officers were martyred and 17 civilians were killed. Essentially, through this army massacre in the early stages of assuming power, Sheikh Hasina established absolute control over the army. The BDR Commission has assisted the July Memorial Museum by providing various documents. Research on this massacre is ongoing.
