Enforced Disappearance

Documentation of enforced disappearances and human rights violations

The July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum contains memories of those who were forcibly disappeared, memories of detention centers after disappearance, and the horrors of disappearance. For the first time during Sheikh Hasina's rule, a planned mission of enforced disappearance began. In the past decade and a half, approximately 1,837 people have been disappeared, of which about 34 are still missing. According to documents found in Ganabhaban, Sheikh Hasina was aware of all disappearance incidents. The Disappearance Commission has assisted the July Memorial Museum with various information. Detailed research on disappearances is ongoing.
